Just in case you don't know, you don't need to justify using just in your writing. It is indeed a catch-all and ubiquitous word I imagine that can just be terribly confusing, esp. for someone learning the language:
RECENTLY "I just finished mowing grandma's lawn."
"How much did you get?"
ONLY "I justgot a dollar."
"Did you tell her it wasn't enough?"
TO MAKE SOFTER "Yeah. I said "I'd just like to bring up a small point."
